In Zamfara State, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned its supporters not to vandalize properties belonging to the All Progressives Congress, APC, now that the PDP has taken over the state.

Faruk Shettima Rijiya, the Party’s Secretary, stated that the fact that the PDP won the governorship election in the state does not give anyone the authority to destroy properties belonging to the opposition or individual properties.

“We are not part of such arrangements and will never support such kind of inhumanity in any form,” Gusau said in an interview.

“Zamfara State needs to be repositioned without destroying existing properties; the party condemns anyone found doing so.”

He stated that the incoming government has no intention of witch-hunting anyone and that rumours circulating in the state that Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle is being targeted are false.

“We are not targeting anyone, but whoever is found to be in violation of the law must face the consequences of the law, because no one will be made a sacred cow or untouchable because the new administration plans to fish them out.”

“Destroying opposition parties or individual properties does not benefit the incoming government at any level, but it allows supporters to remain loyal to the party.”
