TheNigerian News Confers Millennium Achievers Award On Buratai

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has been conferred with the Millennium Achievers award for the second time by the TheNigerian News, a London based online newspaper.
Speaking at the event held at the Grand Ballroom, The Montcalm Marble Arch London, United Kingdom, Chairman, Board of Directors of the medium, Dr Sam Ode said the honour was in recognition of his tireless efforts towards global peace and security; human rights and dignity of mankind through the timely defeat of Boko Haram terrorism and ongoing mop-up of criminal elements and other threats to the sovereignty of Nigeria.
The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Maj Gen NE Angbazo at the occasion, was commended for his tact and foresight to work assiduously in the most dangerous terrains for the liberation of the North East in particular and Nigeria in general from the claws of terrorist.
According to Dr. Ode, the Army Chief has also engineered a package of rehabilitation of repentant terrorists through the de-militarization and de-radicalization programme.
He added that, most of the repentant victims have been reunited and absorbed into their estranged communities.
Furthermore, “shadows of his impact on curbing terrorism are also reflected in the massive rehabilitation and construction of social amenities in the Northeast region of the country”.
He stressed that the gradual depletion of IDP camps and the subsequent return to their ancestral homes attested in the enthronement of peace in that region.
Responding, the COAS thanked the medium for the award while stating that it was gratifying to note that his efforts in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality as well as repositioning the Nigerian Army to be a professionally responsive Army was noticed by the medium.
He maintained that the success story would not have been achieved without the directions and unwavering support of President Muhammadu Buhari , civil society organizations officers and men of the Nigerian Army and indeed the media.
He dedicated the award to officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army adding that the honour would spur them to do more
The climax of the event was the decoration of the COAS as the millennium achievers ambassador of TheNigerian news and the presentation of an additional award to the Nigerian Army as Friend of Humanity.
