There has been palpable fear in the camp of the former President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dr Bukola Saraki over an alleged plot by agents of the federal government to arrest the former political leader of Kwara state on Tuesday, the 11th of June 2019 when a new president of the senate will be elected to finally herald the begining of the 9th National Assembly.
TheNigerian News gathered that while the reasons for the planned arrest is still sketchy at the moment, it will not be unconnected with the alleged forgery case involving the outgoing Senate President, Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Deputy senate president, Sen Ikekwere Madu and two others.
The source who is abreast with the political happenings in the camp of the former governor of Kwara state also revealed that many top politicians of the APC extraction whose feathers were left unruffled with the rebellious emergence of Dr Bukola Saraki as the President of the senate in 2015 and the way he spearheaded the affairs of the Nigerian Assembly, bringing the executive arm to public ridicule on many occasions are bent on getting him to pay for his many political sins now that he is stepping out of office as the senate president.
The cabals are also irked by the fact that for the first time in the history of Nigeria’s democracy, a ruling party is denied the privilege of providing the leadership of the national assembly disrupting the smooth running of the government which was made impossible by the incessant loggerheads between the executive arm and the National Assembly which is the vehicle through which the policies of the executive is driven to it’s destination.
Some political forces are also alleged to have prepared to hide behind Saraki’s political sins against his former party, APC to mastermind his arrest and subsequent political humiliation ostensibly to clip his wings and wittle down his interest ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections.
This forces are said to have started the permutations and the political calculus ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections and are unwilling to let any opportunities such as this slip by.
