Real reasons why Buhari cancelled Nigeria Air

It is no longer news that the Federal government has suspended plans for the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air, unfortunately much has not been said about the real reasons for the complete policy summersault.
However unfolding events have revealed that the reversal may not be unconnected to the inability of the Transport and Aviation Ministry to answer questions advanced by public and concerned Civil Society Organisations as concerns certain gray areas of the transaction.
According to a statement by one of such interest groups, George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN), the group which also claims to have advanced the ministry in a 3-page letter for further clarifications on the partnership, the ministry failed to explain satisfactorily on points raised by them in a 3-page petition.
It was this and many more opposition to manner of transaction by the Ministry that has drawn major criticism from media and public, including dragging the Federal Government into several litigation .
The release by GUWN which is signed by the Network’s Chairman, Dr. George Uboh also alleges of a suit being instituted to querry the expending of over $8 Million Naira alleged to be spent on the process.
“After much criticisms on the Nigeria Air deal via TV and Radio appearances, and as GUWN is about to file a suit to annul Nigeria Air for not serving the public’s interest, FEC has cancelled the deal today Wednesday, September 19, 2018. GUWN will still drag MoT-Aviation to court on the over $8m usd spent so far”. They claimed.
