OSUN: You’re not ready for governance, Oyetola tackles Adeleke
GOVERNOR Gboyega Oyetola says his soon-to-be successor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is not prepared for governance.
Oyetola’s Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, who made this known today, said he arrived at this going by the terms of reference given to the transition committee set up by the governor-elect.
Speaking during a radio interview, Omipidan also accused the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of relying on lies, adding that the setting up of the transition committee by the governor-elect was a result of hearsay.
Recall that Senator Adeleke, yesterday, inaugurated a 37-member transition committee charged with interfacing with the outgoing administration of Adegboyega Oyetola on a smooth transition of power.
The transition committee which was tasked with an 18-point term of reference was also charged to hit the ground running and propose actionable agenda for the new administration in the first 100 days, 1 year and subsequent years.
The transition committee has, as Chairman, Muyiwa Oladimeji and Secretary, Bamidele Salam who is a serving member of the House of Representatives.
Omipidan maintained that the state government had not obtained any loan and has not given any emergency contract since the result of the July 16, gubernatorial election was announced.
His words, “The inauguration of the transition committee by the governor-elect yesterday shows that the Osun PDP is not prepared for governance and the inauguration is just a confirmation of this.
“As to the allegation of obtaining of loan, I will state categorically here that Osun did not obtain any loan and the government has prosecuted all the contracts without recourse to any loan.
“Also, my principal has not awarded any emergency contract. I call on the PDP to identify any emergency contract that the governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has awarded after the announcement of the election result.”
The CPS also held that the statement credited by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson, alleging the Oyetola administration of awarding emergency contracts has not been fair and is full of lies and propaganda.
Reacting, the Chairman of the transition committee, Muyiwa Oladimeji said the inauguration of the transition committee was without any hidden agenda.
He added that the terms of reference the committee was tasked with are a common thing under a presidential system of government.
“The terms of reference mandated by the governor-elect is a means to interface with the outgoing government.
“The inauguration of the transition committee is the most civilised thing to do under this setting,” Oladimeji said.
