Following the surge in the rate of suicide across the country, several Nigerians have urged the Federal Government to ban Sniper insecticide.

Marketed by Swiss-Nigeria Chemical Company, Sniper is a very popular brand and has come to be known as the most effective in driving away insects, including mosquitoes, cockroaches and more.

However, some Nigerians have resorted to the pesticide for solace when depressed.

Chukwuemeka Akachi, a 400-level student of the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) recently committed suicide using Sniper.

A 22-year-old man, identified simply as Segun, also turned to the insecticide after a low score at the last UTME.

Here’s what Nigerians had to say.
