Kano’s New Governor Fires State Pilgrims Board Chair, Executive Secretary

Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, governor of Kano State, has fired Muhammad Abba Danbatta, Executive Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, the Board’s chairman, was also fired.

This was revealed in an early Tuesday morning statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

As a result, Governor Yusuf approved Alhaji Laminu Rabiu’s appointment as the new Executive Secretary of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board. While Sheikh Pakistan was replaced as chairman by Alhaji Yusuf Lawan.

Malama Nana Aisha, the daughter of the late Islamic cleric Sheikh Jafar Mahmud Adam, is another prominent Noard member who has been sacked.
Sheikh Abbas Abubakar Daneji, Sheikh Shehi Shehi Maihula, Amb. Munir Lawan, Sheikh Isma’il Mangu, Hajia Aishatu Munir Matawalle, and Dr. Sani Ashir are the new Board members.

According to the statement, the appointees are expected to take over the Board’s affairs immediately in order to ensure a successful Hajj in 2023.
