Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has said that he need not the support of the Sultan of Sokoto to win his reelection.
This is even as he equally vowed to resist any attempt by “the Fulani led Federal Government of Nigeria” to choose who to govern the state.
He stated this while addressing sympathizers at the requiem mass of late senator JKN Waku in Makurdi last Thursday.
The governor who thanked Benue people for standing by him during last weekend Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, said by voting for him, Benue people have sent a clear message to those who want to conquer Benue land that they are ready to defend the Benue valley.
It would be recalled that INEC Monday, declared the March 9th Governor and State Assembly elections in Benue state inconclusive on the grounds that the votes cancelled were more than the difference Ortom of PDP gave his closest contender, Emmanuel Jime of the APC.
But the Governor who expressed disappointment over INEC’s decision over the polls expressed optimism that the will of the people would surely prevail against the wishes of those who are desperate to install the governor of Benue state for their conquest aganda.
Ortom said the reason he is being persecuted was because he has refused to do the bidding of the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Assassination who want to take over Benue land at all cost.
The governor called on those who are affected by the rerun to come out in their numbers and vote for him, assuring amongst other things that the might of Benue people will always prevail over the will of the so-called Federal Might.
The Governor who spoke in Tiv Language refuted the rumors making arounds in the state that he had approached General Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar to help prevail on Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saa’d Abubakar to beg President Muhammadu Buhari to talk to INEC to declare him the Governor, saying if he did not need anyone to retire senator George Akume political carreer, why would he need the support of the Sultan to win the election he has already won.
He again urged Benue people to take a queue from States like Taraba, Plateau and other Middle belt region states who have revolted against the Northern oligarchy by voting against their prefer candidate who had an agreement with them to cede Middle belt land to them for their conquest aganda.
The Governor extolled the leadership qualities of late JKN Waku whom he said had nortured him politically, and promised not to disappoint the late Senator until his death supports his re-election.
