Gunmen abduct Benue singer, Cigity, demand N3m ransom
An upcoming Nigerian singer, Cigiti Abdullahi has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
TheNigerian News gathered that the incident happened on Christmas day, 25 December, when the singer was returning to his base in Otukpo after performing at an event in Ugbokpo in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
One of his colleagues, Mark Owi disclosed via a Facebook post on Wednesday that the victim telephoned him and told him his abductors threatened to kill him if a ransom of N3 million is not paid as soon as possible.
Owi wrote: “I just got a call from Cigity saying the kidnappers have only granted him today to provide the ransom of 3m naira or he will be KILLED. PLEASE MY IDOMA/TIV AND BENUE PEOPLE
help me save a brother and do anything you can in your capacity. Let’s raise this money and save the life he deserves to live.”
Efforts by our correspondent to get police comment proved abortive as the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene, was unreachable as of the time of filing this report.
