TheNigerian online newspaper honored Ms Kalthum Muhammad alongside other distinguished Nigerians like Governor Simon Lalong and Sen. Oluremi Tinubu in London yesterday . The event which took place at the prestigious The Mortcalm Hotel was attended by people from all over the United Kingdom and Nigerians in diaspora.
Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu is the founder and chairperson of Kalthum Foundation for Peace, a NGO based in Borno, northeast Nigeria. She and her team have been working tremendously in the areas of CVE, SGBV, conflict management and peace building in the northeast. Dr. Sam Ode mni who presented the award to her said Kalthum’s efforts is legendary, touring recovered communities and supporting the Nigerian Army to restore life back to the society.
According to him, TheNigerian took interest in her very laudable artifices in the north-east as a girl to defeat Boko Haram ideology which was to discourage female from going to school.
Ms Rabiu who was so happy for the award dedicated it to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General TY Buratai for restoring peace in the northeast. “…I am so happy to be recognized internationally for the little effort I am doing in northeast, Nigeria. This little success was possible because I had a vibrant team working with me.
I am dedicating this award to General TY Buratai and the Nigerian Army for restoring peace in the northeast,”said Ms Rabiu.
The Nigerian is an online newspaper that is widely read by Nigerians and it comes in a weekly digital version.
The publisher of the newspaper Prince Philip Agbese said that this year’s award recipients were selected after a very rigorous screening and vetting by the newspaper’s board. They were selected based on merit and track record.
