Barely one month after his first visit to the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP Beans Farmers Market in Auta-Baliffe, Karu, Nasarawa state, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh on Saturday returned to the market on a follow-up visit to personally conduct a needs assessment and identify specific areas for immediate intervention by the Federal Government.
The visit follows the presentation of a report on the IDP farmers market to the Federal Executive Council by the Hon. Minister and subsequent deliberations on fund sourcing for intervention and timely support for the farming community.
Areas of immediate intervention identified include access road construction, provision of water and sanitary facilities, storage facilities, threshers, area fencing and land acquisition to benefit the 21 farming clusters of about 21,000 farmers.
