A Helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force has crashed-landed at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport, Katsina State.
The incident which has been confirmed by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Airforce occurred at about 3:00pm on Wednesday.
The confirmation of the incident was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola.
The statement explained that the crash occurred while the helicopter was returning from an anti-armed banditry combat mission in the Northwest Theatre under Operation Hadaran Daji.
Although the level of damage cannot be ascertained at the moment, the NAF spokesperson disclosed that no life was lost in the unfortunate incident.
Nigerian Airforce has consequently ordered a constitution of a board of inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident and the level of Damage. The chief of the Air staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar gave the order shortly after the incident occurred.
The Force also solicits for the understanding and support of the general public for the smooth running of NAF activities which are geared towards providing adequate security for Nigeria and Nigerians.
