The All Progressive Congress(APC) Elders Forum in Ekiti state is putting pressure on a leader of the party and former Governor of the state, Chief Segun Oni to drop the Court case he filed against the Governor elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
At the end of their meeting in Igbara Odo, in the South West area of the state, the elders pointed out that the withdrawal of the case would facilitate an out of Court settlement of the matter.
The communique issued and signed by the chairman of the forum, Chief George Akosile stated that a five man delegation has been set up to meet with Chief Oni.
The elders equally advised the Governor elect to set in motion to reconcile aggrieved groups and their inclusion in the scheme of things.
‘We hereby wish to appeal to Chief Segun Oni and his group to withdraw the case from the federal high court, Abuja as to facilitate an out of court settlement in the interest of APC family in Ekiti state, in particular and Nigeria imn general,’ it added.
In the suit, Chief Oni is urging the court to nullify Dr fayemi’s candidacy on the ground that he did not resign from his position as a minister 30 days before the APC primary as stipulated by the party’s constitution.
Dr Fayemi won the APC primary held on May 12 in Ado Ekiti, the state capital with a total of 941 votes beating Chief Oni that scoreds 481 to place second.
