The Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Senator Dino Melaye, has picked his nomination and expression of interest form to contest the governorship ticket ahead of Kogi elections in November.
The senator picked his form on Thursday at the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the company of aides.
This comes on the same day the court adjourned a case filed against him for alleged falsehood until Nov. 19 and Nov. 20.
Melaye had on June 1 declared his interest to contest the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16.
Melaye announced his interest during a meeting of Kogi West PDP executives at his country home in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
“God does not miss my call,” the boastful senator said as he told people of the state that he is ready to serve them.
Melaye defeated Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the National Assembly election held in March to retain his seat in the Senate.
No fewer than 40 aspirants are said to have indicated interest to contest the governorship election under the platform of the PDP.
Incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello who is seeking re-election is of the APC.
