The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has kept its promise not to issue a certificate of return to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.
The returning officer for the state, Prof Francis Ibeawuchi, had said he pronounced Okorocha winner of the Imo West senatorial election under duress, prompting INEC to withhold his certificate of return.
Consequently, INEC threatened not to recognise the embattled governor.
Mr Okorocha’s name was missing among the Senate-elect who received their certificate of returns at the International Conference Centre Thursday.
