The Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Chief George Alli has distanced himself from  rumours in some quarters, suggesting that he is lobbying to replace the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, as running mate to Governor Samuel Ortom, in the 2019 general election.
The denial was contained in a statement on Sunday by his Special Assistant on media Desmond Oogwu.
Oogwu said amongst other things, those spreading the falsehood
have accused George Alli to have been holding meetings with the rank and file of the PDP to ensure that he is the running mate should Ortom emerge as the party’s flagbearer.
He the rumours are a complete false, sheer lies and unnecessary distraction by political jobbers aimed at causing disaffection amongst the politicians.
George Alli through his media has challenged anyone who said he has asked him or her, either by himself or by proxy, to come forward with such prove.
The Council Chairman therefore called on the general public, including party chieftains and faithfuls, to disregard the false news.
Hon. George Alli affirmed his loyalty to his party, the PDP, and to all the leaders of the party in the state.
