The speaker of the 6th Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah, on Thursday, announced the live streaming of plenary sessions via an online Television platform in Yenegoa.
Isenah noted this at the 2019 Bayelsa Media Awards in the state capital while speaking at the 7th edition of the annual event alongside the state commissioner of Information and orientation, Mr. Daniel Iworiso Markson.
The chief legislator also addressed the need for a “direct contact with Bayelsans at each sitting of the assembly in order to create an avenue for awareness of motions, policies and decisions taken”, he said.
Although, he acknowledged that a similar initiative had been in place via the state-owned radio, Glory FM 97.1 stating that the live streaming on online television platform will avail an opportunity to put a face to the voices of the legislators who represent their various constituencies.
Isenah enjoined media practitioners to not rest on their oars while commending all of their efforts in news reportage which project the image of the state to other parts of the country.
He, however, got an honorary award for the category of the legislator of the year noting that the award came following his activities at the legislative arm of government in the state before his emergence as the speaker.
He also commended the efforts of the organisers of the event noting that the brand “promotes the image of Bayelsa state as well as pledged government’s continued support for the Bayelsa Media Award brand”, the speaker said.
Notably, Mr. Daniel Iworiso Markson, the commissioner for information and orientation in the state also got an award for the category of media personality of the year.
