The former Minister of Aviation and an avowed critic of the ruling party, Femi Fani-Kayode, surprised his numerous supporters when he took to his Twitter page to pour encomiums on the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The legal practitioner who doubles as a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) boldly called even his party out and dared any southern politician to toe Tinubu’s path by daring the northern political hegemony. He twitted;
“I am not in Bola Tinubu’s party but I commend him for having the courage to aspire to be Pres. in 2023. How many southern politicians from either @OfficialAPCNg or @OfficialPDPNig have had the guts to do that?If nothing else he has challenged the myth that the north owns Nigeria. He has also challenged the view that the north owns the APC.
And that is precisely why some northern hegemonists and irredentists within his own party are now attempting to rubbish him and undermine his efforts. Let us wait and see how successful he will be in his quest”.
The tweet has sparked off chains of reaction with many uncertain about his political future in the PDP with his recent hobnob with the APC government at the centre.
Many who see the media guru as an unstable politician given the way he ditched the PDP for the APC during the formation of the merger party and wrote diatribes against Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP and later went back to the party accusing the APC of harbouring an Islamic agenda are of the opinion that he is currently in talks with Tinubu to forge a southwest political block ahead of 2023 which will see him moving over to the ruling party.
Recall that FFK recently made a call for the southwest political stakeholders to join resources irrespective of their political leanings so as to go into the 2023 electoral contest with in a united front.
