Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Ondo state council has called on Nigeria’s politicians to play the game according to the rules just as the 2019 general elections are approaching.
This is the one of the resolutions st the end of the monthly congress of the union held at the NUJ Press Centre, Alagbaka, Akure.
It pointed out that “as political parties hold primaries in preparation for the 2019 general elections, NUJ cautions political class to play the games in tandem with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the nation’s Constitution.
” Without any prevarication, the union advises government and public office holders to always uphold the rule of law being a major perquisite that is non negotiable and indispensable for the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
In the communique, signed by the Secretary of the union, Mr. Leke Adegbite, it appealed to the federal and Ondo state governments to find solutions to deplorable roads, especially Akure Ekiti state highway and Owo/Ikare road to reduce the sufferings of motorists plying the roads.
The union threw its support to the call by Ondo state Council of Traditional Rulers that operations of the electricity distribution company covering the state need to be reviewed due to poor service delivery.
