AFCON: Nigerians choke Mikel after below-par showing against Burundi

Super Eagles skipper, Mikel Obi, has been singled out by Nigerians for the team’s not-so-impressive 1-0 victory over Burundi.

The Nigerians weren’t at their usual best on Saturday when they commenced their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.

Odion Ighalo stepped up from the bench to score the decider.

Mikel, who was a surprise starter, was replaced by Ahmed Musa barely 20 minutes into the second half.

And Nigerians stormed Twitter asking coach Gernot Rohr to drop the ex-Chelsea star in subsequent games.
