Today (Friday), 130 stranded Nigerians are anticipated to travel from Port Sudan to Nigeria.

On Wednesday night, the first group of Nigerians fleeing Egypt arrived.

Our correspondent discovered that the first Port Sudan evacuees were 130 Nigerians, including 128 females and two males.

Around 2:30 to 3 PM is the estimated arrival time in Abuja for the flight.

The Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, Safiu Olaniyan, said it had been difficult in a video posted on Twitter. He also expressed happiness that some of the students would be travelling to Nigeria.

Olaniyan mentioned that the Federal Government organised the airlift.

Let me congratulate you all on being the first Port Sudanese refugees to arrive in Nigeria, he said. Although it has been difficult, we are finally returning home.

“We offer up prayers for one another. We remain in place. Some of your siblings are still present. They will soon be joining you.

The Federal Government has made this arrangement for you. Congratulate the government on its efforts. There is still much to be done. I hope your flight goes well.

Details to follow.
